Polymer Network

Polymer Network

The polymer network offers qualified support for enterprises regarding all business-related issues.

This platform for the plastics industry was launched in the Ruhr region in 2002 and represents a central and future-oriented project of the ChemSite initiative. Important milestones are the introduction of the degree program “Master of Polymer Sciences“ at Gelsenkirchen University of Applied Sciences/Technical University Dortmund and the involvement of important regional members.

Since 2009, the strategic reorientation has focused on innovation and support of the industrial sector. The network sees itself as the centralized contact and coordination platform for the entire value chain – from plastics producers to processing enterprises, machine and mould construction to trade, technical service providers and scientific institutes. The aim of the polymer network is to network industry and research and to enhance the competitiveness of the network members. For this purpose, the network combines its activities in the following four fields of activity: innovation and technology – market and management – vocational training and qualification – economy and legislation.

Embedded in the economic strategy of North Rhine Westphalia, the polymer network is positioned as a regional network within “kunststoffland NRW e. V.”, the state network of the plastics industry.
