Together with the Gelsenkirchen-Horst plant, the Scholven plant forms an integrated refinery. The two plants are linked by a pipeline system. The Gelsenkirchen-Horst plant focuses on oil processing. Focus: Full range of oilproducts including potroleum coke. Plant area: 160 ha (395 acres) Available area: 11 ha (27 acres) Infrastructure: Rhine-Herne canal, 3 ports (Horst I and II and Bottrop), plant rail system and national link, highway access, crude oil pipelines from Rotterdam and Wilhelmshaven.
